TranzAlpine

Rightly described as one of the greatest train journeys in the world, our TranzAlpine route across the mountainous spine of our South Island is truly spectacular.

Experience the South Island’s striking natural landscape by taking a train between Greymouth and Christchurch. Along this journey you’ll see epic vistas, travel the edges of the ice-fed Waimakariri River, traverse the Southern Alps, and see miles of native beech forest.

Coastal Pacific

With the Pacific Ocean lapping at its wheels and the Kaikoura ranges rising majestically above, the Coastal Pacific is undoubtedly one of the world's most picturesque train journeys.

Northern Explorer

The Northern Explorer rumbles through the heart of the North Island on an epic journey that covers 680km of New Zealand's finest scenery, as it travels between Auckland and Wellington.

Experience the extremes of New Zealand’s scenery, from the fertile farmlands of Waikato to the volcanic peaks of the Central Plateau and the sparkling Kapiti coast.

Pricing featured is based on 2 adults sharing and priced as per person in Australian Dollars. Pricing is correct at the time of submission but is subject to change without notice. Valid for select travel dates in 2024. Due to Great Train Journeys schedules, this package must start on a Monday in Queenstown. Seasonal surcharges and blackout dates apply including special events and holiday periods. Accommodation will be confirmed at time of booking. Car hire based on a Compact Auto with Budget based on pick up Queenstown Airport on Day 1 from 9am and drop off Greymouth on Day 5 by 2pm. Budget inclusive policy and conditions apply. One way fee of NZ$150 to be paid direct. Budget can only be confirmed 11 months prior to travel. Scenic Plus upgrade is available for an additional cost and can be quoted at time of enquiry. Flights not included.
